Flipkart launches three new Intel-powered tablets

Yesterday, Flipkart launched the Digiflip ET701, XT811, and XT 911, tablets that run on Android 4.2.2 and come with freebies.

Yesterday, Flipkart launched as many as three (five, if you include WiFi-only and 3G variants separately) in India. All the tablets run on Android 4.2.2, and the company says that the tablets should get updated to Android 4.4 within the next two months.

The Digiflip ET 701 is a 7-inch 1024 x 600 tablet that has Intel’s Atom Z2520 chipset (1.2 GHz dual-core processor and PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU), along with 1 GB of RAM. On the back, there is a 2 MP camera; while the front has a VGA one. It is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery unit, comes with 8 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB, and comes in four colour options — blue, grey, red, and white. This tablet has been priced at Rs 5,999.

The Digiflip XT 801 (XT811 for 3G + WiFi) sports an 8-inch 1280 x 800 IPS panel. This tablet has a 2 MP front-facing camera; and a 5 MP rear camera. With 16 GB of on-board storage and the option to expand up to 32 GB, it has a higher total storage capacity than the ET701. Under the hood, there Intel’s Z2580 SoC (2 GHz dual-core processor and PowerVR SGX 544MP2 GPU) as well as 1 GB of RAM. Packing in a 4,200 mAh battery cell, the company claims it can give more than a day of battery backup with decent usage. The XT801 and 811 come in blue colour, and priced at Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999, respectively.

XT911The biggest tablet of the lot is the XT 901 (XT911 for 3G + WiFi). This tablet boasts an 8.9-inch 1920 x 1200 HD IPS touchscreen. The chipset is same as the XT801, but the RAm capacity has been upped to 2 GB. With 16 GB of internal storage space and the 32 GB of expandable storage option, the device is powered by a 6,500 mAh batery unit. The XT 901 and XT 911 come in only white and are available for Rs 13,999 and Rs 5,999, respectively.

There are few goodies on offer with these tablets from Flipkart. Buyers will get 35 per cent off when buying products from the pre-loaded Myntra app. They will also get some discount on India Today magazine, and top 15 ebooks for free. The official covers can be bought from Flipkart, which start from Rs 699.

Flipkart launches its first tablet, Digiflip Pro XT712

The company launched its first tablet at Rs 9,999 in a ceremony last week. The device is already on sale.

After several leaks and rumours, Flipkart last week officially launched its first tablet, made by one of the product manufacturers on their online portal, Digiflip, named Digiflip Pro XT712.

Digiflip Pro XT712 - BlackThe tablet boasts a 7-inch (1280×800) IPS display, and has on-screen navigation keys. Running on Android 4.2.2, with a couple of Flipkart apps pre-loaded, the company said it may upgrade the device (over-the-air) later this year, but there’s no confirmation on that.

Under the hood, there is a MediaTek 8582 chipset (1.3 GHz A7 quad-core processor) along with 1 GB of RAM. Loaded with 16 GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card, the tablet packs a 3,000 mAh battery unit.

This 3G dual-SIM capable tablet has WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0 under the connectivity options. On the back there is a 5 MP (AF) camera with an LED flash; while the front has got a 2 MP camera. The Digiflip Pro XT712 comes in black colour for now, while the white variant will be available in a while, and has been priced at Rs 9,999.

The tablet is already on sale, and is only available on Flipkart.

Motorola unveils Moto E in India at Rs 6,999

Motorola’s low-end Android handset unveils tonight; its global release happens in India through Flipkart, just like Moto G, unveiled earlier.

Motorola has unveiled its awaited low-end Android handset, the Moto E. In a world showcase, the Moto E got launched in India, as it goes on sale midnight, available on Flipkart, just like the Moto G.

Moto E_The device is has a 4.3-inch (960 x 540) screen with Corning Gorilla Glass on top, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 200 SoC (1.2 GHz dual-core processor, Adreno 302 GPU), along with 1 GB of RAM. On the back, there is a 5 MP camera (no LED flash), but there’s no front-facing camera in place.

Running on Android 4.4.2 with a few Motorola applications services in place, the company promises it will provide at least one major upgrade to the phone, and, if possible, will provide software support for 18 months. The phone packs in a 1,980 mAh battery unit, and 4 Gb of internal storage, expandable up to 32 GB.

The Moto E follows a similar round curved back design like the Moto G, but has a noticeably more bezel size.

This dual-SIM smartphone comes with something called Intelligent Calling, which allows you to set one of the SIMs as default call and messaging number for your contacts. Connectivity-wise, there is Bluetooth 4.0, 3.5mm headset jack, 3G, WiFi, FM Radio.

Apart from the phone, you can also buy as many as 9 different-coloured shells from Flipkart for the phone. The device comes in White and Black colours, and has been launched at Rs 6,999.

Motorola’s Moto X launches in India

The device has a starting price of Rs 23,999, has new features like Active Display, and comes in five colours.

Motorola launched its Moto X smartphone in India today. The launch has been done through the same way it was with the Moto X – available from Flipkart. The Moto X was among the first crop of phones released by Motorola after being acquired by Google.

The phone has a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC (1.7 GHz dual-core processor and quad-core Adreno 320 GPU) coupled with Motorola’s own two separate processing for always-on processing, along with 2 GB of RAM. This flagship device boasts a 4.7-inch 720p AMOLED, which means a slightly larger screen that its budget avatar – Moto G. On the back, there is a 10 MP camera (with flash); while the front has got a 2 MP one.

Moto X_woodenApart from the always-on voice feature, the Moto X also comes with something called Active Display, which is similar to Nokia’s Glance Screen, showing you notifications even when the display has been turned off. Other features include the usual ones for an Android 4.4.2 smartphone – WiFia/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, and NFC. Users will also get, just like with the Moto G, 50 GB of free storage on Google Drive for two years.

Flipkart has said that it will only be selling the 16 GB model at launch, and there are five colours available. The eCommerce portal is providing EMI payment schemes for buyers as well as official Moto X cases on discounted prices. While there’s no Moto Maker available for the Indian buyers, Flipkart confirmed that it is selling both the plastic as well as wood (teak and walnut finish) variants of the device. The 16 GB model (plastic) has been priced at Rs 23,999, and the wood finish variant has been launched at Rs 25,999.
